Cosmetic Surgery
Cosmetic surgery options are available for a number of procedures, like facelifts, eyelid surgery and forehead lifts, among others. Varying in duration from a few to several hours, these procedures require anesthesia and involve some discomfort and risk.
Facelift
The side effects of a facelift include:
- Temporary bruising
- Swelling
- Numbness
- Tenderness and tight feeling
- Dry skin
- Men may experience a permanent need to shave behind the ears when beard-growing skin is repositioned.
The risk factors involved with a facelift surgery include:
- Possible injury to the nerves that control facial muscles or feeling
- Infection
- Bleeding
- Poor healing
- Excessive scarring
A facelift typically necessitates about 14 days of recovery time. While improvements rendered from facelift procedures usually last between five and ten years, they are rarely permanent and often must be repeated.
